Katerina Sofokleous

Ms Katerina Sofokleous is a lawyer and advocates at the law firm K. Sofokleous & Associates LLC. Ms Sofokleous has achieved a law degree from the University of Cyprus, having been awarded for her excellent academic achievements. Ms Sofokleous then went on to achieve an LLM in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice from the University of Edinburgh achieving 1st-degree honours. Today Ms Sofokleous has taken her academic journey further and is a PhD candidate at the University of Cyprus in Criminal law. As part of her PHD, Ms Sofokleous regularly undertakes teaching duties within the University of Cyprus.

In the past ms. Sofokleous has also been chosen as part of a task force by both UCLAN Univesity and the University of Nicosia, following a recommendation by the Ministry of Education, for the evaluation of master's degrees in law. Ms Sofokleous is a young lawyer whose professional practical focus is criminal law, having represented high-profile clients at both the District and Supreme Courts of Cyprus. Ms Sofokleous is known for her excellent advocacy skills, and her professional attitude but mostly for her deep understanding of criminal law, justice and reform. As part of her legal journey, Ms Sofokleous has been published by the Criminal Justice Journal, and by the Nomomaxeia Journal in relation to Cypercribe, Sexting and Extortion.

She is also a regular writer on the Cyprus Legal News platform and the Sigmalive online journal.Ms Sofokleous is a member of the International Research Group and an associate researcher, having contributed to a number of research focus groups. Notably, she has contributed to the research into 'Deterrent penalties for traffic offences in Cyprus" which resulted in a report utilised by the Ministry of Justice to draft a bill that is currently pending in Parliament for the reform of traffic offences. In addition, she acted as an associate researcher for the National Action Plan against crime, on behalf of the Ministry of Justice.
