description

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This focused 3-hour course offers a clear, practical, and commercially grounded guide to charges and security interests under Cyprus law. Designed for professionals who already work with corporate and financing transactions, it cuts through theory and zeroes in on how security actually works in practice — from creation and registration to priority and enforcement. The course places particular emphasis on the real-world issues that cause problems, including drafting weaknesses, registration mistakes, and structural flaws that can undermine otherwise sound transactions.

Rather than simply explaining legal concepts, the course equips participants to spot risk before it becomes costly. Through a structured, step-by-step approach, you will gain a confident understanding of how different types of charges operate under Cyprus law, how they interact with corporate authority and asset classes, and how enforcement works when things go wrong. Common pitfalls — especially those arising from the use of foreign-law templates or boilerplate clauses — are addressed head-on, with practical guidance on how to avoid them.

What you will gain

1. A clear understanding of fixed and floating charges and their consequences
2. The ability to assess whether assets can be effectively charged
3. Practical insight into registration, priority, and enforcement risks
4. Confidence in identifying defects in existing security structures
5. Tools to avoid common drafting and structuring mistakes in Cyprus practice
6. This course is ideal for professionals who want a practical, risk-aware understanding of Cyprus security law — not just how it works on paper, but how it operates in real transactions.
