Mr Valentinos Kontoyiannis, LLB (Hons), MA, PhD (Cand.), Advocate

Legal Training Executive 

Mr. Valentinos Kontoyiannis, obtained a Diploma in Law from the University of Nicosia and an LLB (HONS) Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Sussex in the UK. Valentinos and then went on to obtain an MA in Social and Political thought from the University of Sussec. Valentinos is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Sussex with the thesis title "Economy & Society in Contemporary Critical Theory: Reification, Recognition, and the Problem of the New”

Valentinos’ academic work has been published in the Palgrave Encyclopedia of Imperialism and Anti-Imperialism and he has presented papers at academic philosophy conferences. Mr Kontoyiannis served as the Book Reviews editor at the Postgraduate Journal “Studies in Social and Political Thought” published by the University of Sussex and he has organised an academic conference on the topic of “Feminism and Critical Theory”.

 

Mr Kontoyiannis has taught first and second year undergraduate courses in the UK and has a wealth of experience in teaching at degree level. Specifically he has taught at the University of Sussex as an Associate Tutor where he taught   “Society, State & Humanity” where he was responsible for preparation of teaching materials and engaging students in critical and analytical discussions. Valentinos further taught “Political Ideas” and “Introduction to Politics” at the University of Brighton as a Visiting Lecturer. 

Valentinos undertook his legal training at the law office of Soteris Argyrou & Associates and the Law Office of the Republic of Cyprus, where he gained vital experience in litigation and preparation of court documents. He is a registered advocate and a member of the Nicosia Bar Association and the Cyprus Bar Association. 

Valentinos brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and skill to the ELTRC team. Valentinos is a member of the ELTRC legal training team and supports students registered on the University of London Law degree.
