University of London LLB Law Degree 

What is the University of London? 

 

The University of London was established in 1836 and the signing of the fourth Charter by Queen Victoria in 1858 opened up University of London awards to all those who could fulfil the entry requirements. Consequently, since 1858,University of London qualifications have been accessible to students all over the world through online, blended and flexible learning

For over 150 years the LLB has not only provided the first step on a career path for many thousands of practicing lawyers within the Commonwealth and around the world, but has also provided many thousands more with the vital transferable skills of a world class legal qualification, enabling them to thrive in many other professions. 

 

Academic direction for Undergraduate Laws is provided by a consortium of outstanding University of London Law Schools: Birkbeck, King’s College London, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Queen Mary University of London, SOAS, and UCL.

 

What will your degree say? 

 

On successful completion of your studies on the LLB (HONS) Law Degree you will receive a University of London Award.Your Diploma will state that you were registered with the University of London and that your examinations were conducted by the University of London Law Schools. 

The LLB (HONS) Degree Routes: 

For those studying at undergraduate level for the first time (i.e. for those who do not have a qualification above a Level 3 qualification): 

 

Standard Entry LLB 

 

Complete 12 modules in a minimum of three years and a maximum of six. 

For those who already have an undergraduate degree or higher: 

Graduate Entry LLB 

Complete 9 modules in a minimum of two years and a maximum of six. 

 

Entrance Requirements: 

 

To be eligible to register for the standard entry LLB you must: 

  • Be aged 17 

  • Meet English language requirements 

 

To be eligible to register for the graduate entry LLB you must: 

  • Hold an undergraduate degree from an awarding institution accepted by the University of London 

  • Meet the English Language requirements. 

Registration and registration deadlines: 

The University of London academic year runs from 1st November – 31st October and there are two opportunities to apply each academic year. 

The deadlines for registration are as follows: 

  • To begin your studies in April 2020– 1st  April of the relevant academic year 

  • To begin your studies in October 2020 – 1st October of the relevant academic year

Examinations

There are two examinations opportunities each year: 

  • May/June (you can sit a maximum of 4 modules in this examination period

  • October (you can sit a maximum of 2 modules in this examination period  

 

The opportunity to split your studies between two examination periods each academic year lends to the flexibility of the UOL degree and makes the completion of the degree more manageable, especially for students who have work commitments and or a family. 

For most modules assessments take place by a 3 hour unseen written examination. These examinations take place and are organized by the British Council in Cyprus making the degree beyond reproach as far as quality is concerned. 

 

All examination scripts are marked by University of London approved academics. 

 

Recognition of the degree 

University of London degrees are acknowledged worldwide for their quality and academic rigour. 

It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that the degree they are about to undertake is recognized by the relevant bodies they intend to become a member of after completion of the degree. The University of London does not assume any responsibility regarding the recognition of the degree in your country.  

 

If you intend to qualify as an advocate in Cyprus, at present the UOL (HONS) Law Degree is recognized by the Cyprus Bar Association pursuant to Article 4 of the Lawyers Law Cap. 2 which details the qualifications candidates should possess in order to be accepted as a trainee lawyer by the Cyprus Bar Association. 

 

The standard entry route of the LLB (HONS) degree has also been accredited by KYSATS in Cyprus. 

UOL Fees 

Total fees payable to the UOL in 2019/20:

  • Indicative Cost: Standard Entry LLB – 5746.13 euros (approx.) - for all 12 modules 

  • Indicative Cost: Graduate Entry LLB – 4398.67 euros (approx.) - for all 9 modules 

 

The above fees are payable throughout the years that you study – they are the total indicative cost to achieve the LLB with the UOL

Description of the service we provide: 

  1. Structured timetable for learning for each module 

  2. Powerpoint presentation for each topic via Zoom lesson/face to face available when restrictions are lifted. 

  3. How to write problem questions and essay questions for each module 

  4. Revision slides/spider diagrams for each topic. 

  5. Essay outlines for each topic and chapter 

  6. Marking of task essays and past paper questions.

  7. Feedback on practice essays o help with the answering of questions 

  8. General support throughout your learning.

 

Total fees payable to the European Legal Training Center: 

 

850 euros per module (+ VAT). – payable in instalments.
